Physical Properties - Danburite is a less well-known mineral, its crystals are alike those of topaz. Crystal habits include generally prismatic crystals with a diamond shaped cross section; the termination is steeply slanted producing a wedge like look. Danburite occurs mostly in metamorphic limestone but also it can occur in low-temp hydrothermal veins with sulphides and calcite. Danburite colour is almost always white or clear but it can also occur is shades of grey, yellow, pink and brown. Its streak is colourless or white, with a vitreous to greasy lustre. Group SILICATES, Composition CaB2Si2O8, Hardness 7.0-7.5, Crystal Structure ORTHORHOMBIC.
